“You can pick blackberries here in the park of Forest. There's a smaller bush right here, and a bigger one a bit further. They are still a bit sour, but if you don’t pick them now others might be quicker.”

“I cook them with a bit of sugar, and then they are delicious to eat with farmer’s cheese. We've already got two bowls in our fridge.”

“I live in Breda in the Netherlands, close to the Belgian border. Five years ago during my sabbatical, my wife and I lived in Brussels for three months. We've been coming back ever since, always one month a year.”

“What we like so much about Brussels? When you come from Breda, this is the first city where they speak another language (smiles). And it is such a diverse city. With beautiful parks as well.”

“We always look for an apartment on the edge of the fancy neighbourhoods and the more multicultural ones, and preferably close to a park. We've already stayed near the Josaphatpark in Schaerbeek, and near the Ter Kamerenbos (Bois de la Cambre) in Ixelles. No blackberries there, unfortunately. Over the years, Ixelles has become too fancy for me, it's hard to get real contact with all those intellectuals at Café Belga.”

“I like to roam through the city, try to walk or bike a bit every day. On Monday, we were at the evening market in Saint-Gilles. Last week, I went to the Erasmus house in Anderlecht. They have a ‘philosophical park’ there, it’s marvellous. Anderlecht is probably going to be our next destination.”

“Whether I would ever consider living here? My employer has a European headquarters in Brussels. I don’t want to live here forever, but it would be great if they would lend me for a year or so.”

Anderlecht deviendra probablement notre prochaine destination l’année prochaine."
